What Did Our Project aim to aCcomplish?

Our project aimed to inform the UNC population about the inequities faced by female athletes at UNC-Chapel Hill. We have chosen to narrow our focus to unpacking the disparities between the softball and baseball programs at UNC. Through this example, we highlight larger issues within team cultures, the sexualization of athletes, limited sports psychology resources, and the hateful comments athletes receive. Our hope is that greater change will emerge from the knowledge generated from our project. Students, faculty, and staff will come face to face with the problems at hand.

The opening stages of our project saw us creating a logo, name, and a group manifesto. Our manifesto outlined our concerns and proposed potential steps forward.

In spreading our message, our collective created Zines (pictured to the right) and passed them out to students and staff. We also took copies of our Zine to the Sloane Art Library to be on display.  We also created a Tik Tok video which serves as a visual reminder of the inequalities between the softball and baseball teams at UNC.
